Each year, the shell color becomes a little brighter, until full maturity. Although the bright color almost says "ATTACK HERE!", they are extremely difficult to catch. They have very good eyesight and are capable of both running and jumping in 4 directions. There are stories of them actually running ON water. More likely, their shells allow them to slide along on the surface, much like a surfboard.
