Sally Lightfoot crabs. When attacked by a predator, they are capable of shedding a leg if necessary - in time, it will grow back.

Crabs in general, take oxygen from water (the same as fish). When on land, they carry around some water inside their shell and swish it passed their gills from time to time in order to breathe.

Young, Sally Lightfoot Crab. The youngsters need more protection from predators so they have black shells to blend in with the rocks. Each year, the shell color becomes a little brighter, until full maturity. Although the bright color almost says "ATTACK HERE!", they are extremely difficult to catch. They have very good eyesight and are capable of both running and jumping in 4 directions. There are stories of them actually running ON water. More likely, their shells allow them to slide along on the surface, much like a surfboard.
